Back Burner is a 6-piece acoustic string band that plays a toe tappin' mix of bluegrass,
swing, jazz, country, and blues. Their music blends jazz vocals and bluegrass harmonies into
what Doug Bright, editor of the Heritage Music Review, calls "A bluegrass swing fusion that works!"
Loren Postma is one of the northwest's premier Dobro players and former member of several
successful northwest bands, including the Combinations. Guitarist Lou Allen brings a love of country music to his playing and songwriting. Master of many instruments, former Fidelity Grange member Dave Campbell graces the band with his banjo prowess and steps in to play bass as well. Former Lost in the Fog member Brad Hull brings a love of swing music to his bass and fiddle playing. Tom Brisk, formerly of Lonesome Ridge and Crossfire, plays mandolin with a mischievous grin. Accomplished jazz vocalist and former Rain City Blues member Karen Story joins the guys on vocals and percussion.
The band plays original songs plus old and new standards from a variety of genres. The music appeals to all ages!
Back Burner's first CD, "Simmer On," was released in 2007 and received an honorable mention on KBCS 91.3 fm for the Top 10 Bluegrass CDs of 2007. The CD was also featured on the KMPS Morning Show with Ichabod Caine.
The band has played at Renton's Fabulous Fourth of July, Everett's Sorticulture, Anacortes Arts Festival, Edmonds Concerts in the Park, Crossroads Bellevue, Third Place Books, Cottage Lake Summer concert series, and many other local venues and private parties.
